Soke

Niina Gyokudo
Soke of Mugairyu Iaihyodo, Meishi-ha.

Born Niina Toyoaki in 1948 in Oita Prefecture. From an early age he studied various martial arts, beginning with aikido. During his twenties he began studying Mugairyu Iaihyodo and Shindomusoryu Jodo.
In 1986, while working for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, he was appointed instructor for jo and iai in Mitsubishi's all-company martial arts association. In 1987 he moved to Tokyo and established the Tokyoto Jodo Renmei, and in 1994 as chairman he reorganized the
now-expansive martial arts group into Suimokai, centered on iai training.
In 1986 he was appointed Shihan in Mugairyu Iaihyodo, in 1996 he received Menkyokaiden, in 1998 he received his Hanshi license, in 1999, by receiving Soke Keisho, he was recognized as having the right to establish a branch of Mugairyu Iaihyodo, and thus in 2004 he established Meishi-ha.
He also holds 8th dan and Hanshi licenses in Shindomusoryu Jodo, Uchidaryu Tanjojutsu, Isshinryu Kusarigamajutsu, Ikkakuryu Juttejutsu, and Chuwaryu Tankenjutsu.
